In the last five years, young people have propelled a burgeoning grassroots movement to raise awareness and engage their peers around one of our nation’s most pressing issues: the national debt. Since your coverage is focused on higher education and millennials, I am reaching out to inform you about the impact of a movement started by college students, Up to Us, which seeks to guarantee a brighter economic future for us all.  

As the only nationwide, campus-based campaign focused on the country’s major fiscal challenges, Up to Us is a national movement that empowers young people to improve the course of America’s economic trajectory. The young people that make up the movement are determined to ensure a future full of opportunity. These emerging leaders are among the most educated and skilled in recent history, but face fiscal challenges that threaten to limit their potential. Through the campaign, campus leaders in the movement connect with their peers in creative ways and galvanize them around the need for sustainable economic development. The young people of the Up to Us movement meet with members of Congress, think tank scholars and policy experts at government agencies to voice their concerns and urge our nation’s top policymakers to take substantive action. Up to Us consists of leaders from various backgrounds who have joined together to use their voice and influence the economic landscape they wish to inherit.
